Not great, but it was quite fun in a way

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 16 August 2022 05:00

I really liked the first movie, the second while lacking is in my opinion better than its reputation and I disliked the fourth one. The third instalment to the series is neither a great or a bad movie, just somewhere in between as well as being quite a fun movie. The script does have its funny moments but it isn't as fast-paced, witty or as laugh-a-minute as the first two, the story is thin and on the predictable side and the film isn't as efficiently directed and is uneven in pace being rushed one minute and a little too slow the next. The cast though give it their all, Anna Farris gives her best performance of the series, and Charlie Sheen and Leslie Nielson are a lot of fun. There are some genuinely funny spoofs my favourites being The Ring and 8 Mile ones too, the production values are much more than cheap cheap to video fodder and the soundtrack is great. All in all, not great but I liked it. 6/10 Bethany Cox

Scary Movie 3 review

I'm not friends with the person who swore this was funny.
It's amazing how low this series has gotten. The first was silly and dumb but still managed to be funny and actually clever in its spoofing. The second one poured on the stupid and the soots were less inventive. The third tries way too hard to be stupid and unoriginal in anything it attempts.
Some of the cameos are what makes this a 3/10 and I may have smiled at a gag once or twice.

A bad movie

I have to admit, I thought that the very first ‘Scary Movie’ was not bad at all. As a matter of fact, it is one of the very few parodies I did actually more or less like (In my opinion, it was even better than ‘The Naked Gun’, call me crazy if you want). However, the sequels following this decent flick were all pretty much abysmal. Indeed. After the bad 1st sequel, this second sequel didn't provide much improvement, in the contrary. At that point, the Wayans brothers were smart enough to abandon ship before it was too late, and this time, it was David Zucker (who also directed 'The Naked Gun' trilogy) who was in charge. Since Zucker is considered one of the masters of the genre (he did direct ‘Airplane’ after all, a movie which could be argued as the best parody ever made) so you could hope that he would bring some new energy/creativity in this tired franchise. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the whole thing was just as bad as the 2nd movie and Zucker didn't manage to add anything interesting to the formula. There were this time even more stars who provided some small cameos but none of them did make the movie funnier whatsoever. To conclude, this flick was just full of stupid, unfunny and boring jokes and it is definitely not worth a look, even if you like the genre.

Scary Movie 3 review

As with the second movie in this franchise, this third installment is also better than the first. Bigger names, better writing, but as always, the gags are taken too far to remain witty or funny. There are some great parodies of other well-known movies, but it definitely helps the film, having the big name stars in it, including even Leslie Nielsen. Simon Rex, who was also in "Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th" gets a role as Anna Faris' love interest. Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy get to open the movie, which was a great scene.
