An average movie

Posted : 12 years, 1 month ago on 25 March 2012 12:56

already saw this movie but since it was a while back and since it was available on the KPN pluspakket, I thought I might as well check it out again. To be honest, I have to admit that it was actually slightly better than I remembered but I still can't say I was really impressed though. Indeed, to be honest, I wasn't exactly blown away by ‘Saw’ which is, in my opinion, rather overrated, but, I have to admit it, even though the whole thing was rather far-fetched, it was still a rather interesting and entertaining horror flick. Apparently, this first sequel has a solid reputation but I wasn't expecting much from it and, indeed, it turned out to be nothing really great, even the 2nd time around. Seriously, I really don’t get what was supposed to be so great about this flick and  the whole thing was just rather pointless. Indeed, the acting was fairly  weak and the plot was, in my opinion, way too similar to the 1st movie. I have to admit that I did appreciate the fact they didn’t completely reveal in details the pasts of the involved characters and kept the whole thing this way more ambiguous and mysterious. That was a nice touch. However, the fact that there was actually really no link whatsoever between Eric Matthews and Jigsaw was rather lazy and disappointing and Amanda’s real agenda was actually pretty obvious from the start. Anyway, what remained was a bunch of nasty death scenes and the fans must have been thrilled but I wish they brought up something new but I guess that would be too much to ask from the movie moguls who always go for the easy money. Anyway, to conclude, even though it wasn't really bad, I still think it was rather average and I don’t think it is really worth a look, except, of course, if you are a die hard fan of the genre.

Saw II review

Posted : 14 years, 1 month ago on 7 March 2010 03:20

Those who don't appreciate life do not deserve life.

That was unexpected. The ending and big reveal of the second Saw film had me on the floor, eyes bulging, and me thinking: "I didn't see THAT coming." Of course, for those who haven't seen the film, I won't spill anything here. :pp In the second installment of the Saw sixology, John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, continues his pilgrimage of teaching immoral people a lesson in life which they will never forget.. provided that they come out alive. This time, there are 8 people locked inside a house which, according to Billy, Jigsaw's doll, has been emitting a deadly gas that could turn their internal organs into mulch if they don't find the antidote in time. Among the prisoners is the son of detective matthews, who has been in and out of jail because of petty crimes, and amanda young, which, as seen in the first film, was the only person to survive Jigsaw's trap. I wasn't as impressed by this movie as i was by the first one, but the twist ending shocked me. I loved the way the events unfolded at the same time; furthermore, jigsaw's penchant for placing crucial minute details made the movie even better than it should. i can imagine what survivor would be like if john kramer were in charge of the challenges. :DD here's to the saw series *cheers*

Better Than The First Film.

"Saw II", is better than the original "Saw", there are many reasons. One, there are more people, in a building, opposed to just two. The second, reason, that this film, is better than the original, is the story. I really enjoyed seeing the S.W.A.T. team, actually be able to encounter Jigsaw, and be clueless, on what he is doing. I thought the plot, in this film, was excellently made. The idea, of having people, with different pasts, but all being connected in a way, is interesting, and fun to watch unfold. One of the other big, important aspects, of this film, was Donnie Wahlberg. He was the star of this film. His acting was excellent, and his role, was a very good one. I wish, Danny Glover, would have been in this one though. This is a great film.
