An average movie

To be honest, I wasn't really sure what to expect from this flick but, somehow, I still ended up watching the damned thing. Well, even though the intro was pretty lame and generic,ย  I was surprised that the concept was actually quite promising. Indeed, Ice Cube and Kevin Hart were perfectly cast for their specific characters and it could have been a really nice comedic version of 'Training Day'. Unfortunately, they made some huge mistakes. The first one was that all the '126's' that James threw at Ben were actually fairly inoffensive and, each time around, Ben completely screwed up big time. I mean, not only it displayed that Kevin Hart's character was definitely not suited for this line of work but, above all, these scenes were just rather tedious to behold. Their 2nd mistake was that, later on, they completely flipped this around and got them engaged in some situations which were justย way too generous. For example, the guy didn't even start the police academy that his future brother-in-law made him already face the biggest kingpin in town! Of course, since it is comedy, I'm well aware that I shouldn't take it too seriously but I believe that if the makers would have handled this material in a slightly more realistic way, it could have been much more entertaining. Anyway, to conclude, even if I have seen worse, the damned thing turned out to be rather disappointing and I don' think it is really worth a look.ย

Go Along With It

Kevin Hart is really funny in this film that seems to have done the best with his brand and lets him go wild, which is a good idea since the plot is stale and uninteresting. Ice Cube seems too restrained in his role, because he was either phoning it in restrained from the goal of PG-13.

Come for the good time, not for a realistic story. Like with any Sandler film, just go with it.
