Revenge of the Nerds review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 1 October 2011 11:45

This one is gonna be short.

I love this film because it gives 'Nerds' a chance to shine. Which hardly happens. Except in the 80's obviously lol.

This film is funny to a certain degree, but compared to the humor we are use to these days, it's kind of dull and cheesy. As for an 80's movie though it's pretty awesome.

I loved the vast types of nerds they had in the group of main characters. Each one of them had their own 'specialty' which made them ultra nerdy.

One of my favorite things about this film is Lewis's laugh. Don't deny it, you love it too.

I also must note, the jocks in this film are so much more asshole-ish than any jocks ever. True fact.

Overall the situations and they way they are resolved are unrealistic. For a quick example there is no way a group of like 6-8 people can turn a condemned frat house into the best looking frat house at the university in a day.

As an 80's film it is a classic and quite funny if you dumb yourself down a little. Charming and feel good.

A disappointing movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since it has a solid reputation, I was quite eager to check it out. After watching the damned thing, to be honest, since it is such a 80's classic, I was actually expecting something more from this movie. I guess I'm not a big fan of those 80's classic comedies. Indeed, I wasn’t already a huge fan of ‘Animal House’ but it was at least better than this flick. I mean, sure,  it was sometimes amusing, I’ll give you that, but most of the time I thought it was just lame and boring. Eventually, 20 years later, somehow, the nerds became some possible lead characters, thanks above all to all the successful R rated comedies delivered by Judd Apatow and it was something that this movie and its sequels never actually managed to achieve. Indeed, in spite of its catchy title, this movie actually failed to make the nerds look and sound cool. Anyway, to conclude, I didn’t like it much and I don’t think it is really worth a look  but if you are a fan of this genre, you might end up enjoying it more than I did.
