A very good movie

Posted : 13 years, 8 months ago on 7 September 2010 12:19

I already saw this movie many times but, since it was a while back, I thought I might as well check it out again. Well, first of all, even though it might seem hard to believe but, for many many years, Quentin Tarantino was actually struggling to make his first movie. Eventually, after many failures, he came out with this feature and the rest was pretty much history. I remember very well when this movie came out, there was a huge buzz around this flick. Anyway, it had a huge impact and it is rightfully consider one of the best directorial debuts ever made. In my opinion, it is actually one of Tarantino's best movies and, even though ‘Pulp Fiction’ was even better, afterwards, I do think that he just went downhill from there. Indeed, this movie was great because Tarantino couldn't do everything he wanted at the time and he couldn't go on and on in his egotrip that has became most of his recent features. Basically, limited in space, time and money, he produced some of his best work and there was here some amazing writing, directing and acting. Harvey Keitel made with this movie a really impressive come-back here but the rest of the cast were just as amazing and they all provided some really strong performances. Indeed, for Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi and Michael Madsen, it would be the movie that gave them their breakthrough. Almost 25 years later, Tarantino would make ‘The Hateful Eight’ which was pretty much a Western remake of his directorial debut and, even though it didn’t get much love, in my opinion, it was the best movie he made in years. Anyway, coming back to our main feature, to conclude, it is a great movie, it is definitely worth a look and it is pretty much a must see for any decent movie buff.

Reservoir Dogs review

Disappointed. Surely the worst Tarantino movie I've seen so far, but it still gets a 6.

Reservoir Dogs

A slick, intelligent and original crime-gone-wrong from Quentin Tarantino. RESERVOIR DOGS is thrilling and unique, creating a hugely entertaining and on-edge atmosphere. Tarantino's sharp screenplay deserved more recognition.

Starring Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, Quentin Tarantino and Lawrence Tierney.

Took me 3 viewings to like it...

I have given this film a very lucky third viewing because I am a big fan of Quentin Tarantino and I wanted to enjoy his first work that bought him his best film: Pulp Fiction. When I saw Reservoir Dogs for the first and second time, I absolutely despised it! After a third viewing, I suddenly and unexpectedly enjoyed this film. Reservoir Dogs is an extremely violent crime film that had a lot of blood involved that was realistic especially with the ear-cutting. I personally could recognize this film as a film from a college student for some reason. Reservoir Dogs is a cool film for teenagers as well as adults but I don't find it that cool because I think that the film focused more on the violence rather than the characters. I can see why people love this film and I can see why people hate this film too.

Reservoir Dogs has a very wide ensemble cast that have a lot of great actors. One thing that was cool yet pretty weird was that the men were named after a particular colour like "Mr. Pink", "Mr. Brown", "Mr. White" etc. Quentin Tarantino makes an appearance as Mr. Brown. I don't really think that many people noticed that Quentin was playing him because he had never been seen before Reservoir Dogs.Tim Roth's performance was good but he was dying throughout the whole film and his acting in those moments were great! Steve Buscemi was the best in this film. I have to say that he is one great actor! He is a good actor to choose in a violent crime film like Reservoir Dogs and Fargo and then stars in a childrens cartoon film like Monsters, Inc..

Quentin Tarantino's film debut started off well. I think that Pulp Fiction was his ultimate start especially when he earned an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for that film as well as a nomination for Best Director. Seeing Reservoir Dogs was just like watching a film that one single man self-learned to make because of films being Quentin's inspiration and passion. The script by Tarantino was really good. I admit that it isn't the best script he has ever written but it is still a fine accomplishment for him.

Overall, Reservoir Dogs is a cool and gruesome crime film that is one of the most famous film debuts of all time. Not only Reservoir Dogs but also Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown truly shows us the coolest as well as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.

This is an awesome film. It's not just a film for guys, I mean, I love it and I am a female. It's one of those films that is unique and rare that it's good. It's also one that grabs you so you don't forget it. Ever. As I said in my title, I love Tim Roth as Mr. Orange. He is so cool! :)

I Don't Believe In Tipping

A mexican stand-off.
Pop culture laden discussions.
Casual cursing with machine gun rapidity.
A mixed bag collection of songs that could only be found on a cassette that was taped by some nerd boy who collects comicbooks, works in an indie video or record store & thinks that guns are bad-ass.
All the elements that would qualify a film as being described as "Tarantinoesque".
And this is where it all started.

True Classic.*

"Reservoir Dogs" is truly a classic film not to be forgotten. The story has all of the ingredients of a gem. Seven complete strangers team up to rob a bank. Neither of them know each others names. They just refer to each other as colors. They think they have it all planned out when the news leaks out of the robbery. What coincides after that is epic. Will the many obstacles prevent them from pulling off the perfect crime?. "Reservoir Dogs" is a pretty deep story of friendship and trust, that any moviegoer should experience. One of Tarantino's best probably.
