An average movie

Posted : 3 years, 11 months ago on 16 May 2020 06:40

I already saw this movie but since it was ages ago, I was quite eager to check it out again. Well, even if it turned out to be a decent watch, to be honest, I wasn't really impressed after all these years. At first, I was slightly worried that Harrison Ford wouldn't have the acting chops to pull this off but he was actually pretty good here. The biggest issue was that, if we would follow the logic displayed in this movie, we should basically shot in the head all the jerks in the world, either they would get killed or they might turn out to be some much nicer people if they make it after all. Sure, it is a really blunt statement but it was more or less what was the message delivered by this movie, even if it was unintentional. Another issue was the fact that, even though Henry was in pretty bad shape, suddenly, he would make some giant leaps of recovery just when it would be convenient for the plot. The worst example would be when he would be able to crack one of his old lawyer cases which is something that someone with a perfectly healthy brain would probably not be able to do. It's too bad because this movie did have an interesting concept, to see a man recovering from a massive brain damage injury and to see the huge impact it had on his personality. The cast was also pretty good (Harrison Ford, Annette Bening, Bill Nunn). However, it was just a huge mistake to focus so much on how 'Bad'ย  Henry used to be and how 'Good' Henry had become after this tragedy and they should have simply focused on him as an average guy going through this terrible ordeal. Anyway, to conclude, in spite of its flaws, I still think it is worth a look though thanks to a solid cast and some decent directing by Mike Nichols.
