A good movie

I'm not sure if Claude Chabrol is really know here in Listal but in France, he was one of the most highly regarded directors and I always had a weak spot for his work. He made movies for more than 5 decades, made more than 50 movies and even started the French New Wave (la nouvelle vague). This time around, it is a typical French detective story and I'm afraid that without Chabrol's touch that it would have been rather tedious to watch. Indeed, the whole thing is actually pretty standard but the characters have all a rather dark side, even the main character, Inspecteur Lavardin, and it makes the whole thing pretty spellbinding to watch. To conclude, even though it is nothing really mind-blowing, it remains a well made police feature and it is definitely worth, especially if you are interested in French movies.
