An average movie

Posted : 12 years, 9 months ago on 20 July 2011 08:27

Not to be confused with the current popular TV-show, to be honest, I wasn’t really expecting much from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Jim Caviezel, I thought I might as well check it out. Like everyone else, the first time I saw Jim Caviezel was in ‘The Thin Red Line’ and, like everyone else, including Terrence Malick, I was quite mesmerized by this really charismatic actor. Eventually, the guy unfortunately never really managed to have a really impressive career and even though he himself blamed the fact that he was supposedly ‘punished’ for his involvement in ‘The Passion of the Christ ‘, in my opinion, the biggest problem was that he spent too much with some rather dubious B features. This movie was a perfect example. I mean, there was something intriguing about this mix between Sci-Fi and Viking periode piece but the end-result was unfortunately rather underwhelming. Indeed, it was simply a rather tricky mix and the makers never managed to make it really work. To conclude, even though the concept had some potential, I thought it was a rather weak B feature and I don’t think it is really worth a look, except maybe if you are a die-hard fan of the genre.

My father and I stumbled upon this movie. I must say it was intriguing. Jim Caveeesal..whatever, didn't give a great acting performance but was entertaining. This movie was VERY bloody, had some really cool fight scenes with the creepy "seeking for human flesh" alien/creature...oh...THERE'S FRICKEN' VIKINGS! I LOVE VIKINGS hahaha That's the main reason I give this movie a 7. Very entertaining with a "what the heck?" plot. For those curious.. watch.
