An average movie
Posted : 3 years, 7 months ago on 26 September 2020 06:33I thought I already saw this movie but since it was such a long time ago, I thought I might as well check it out again. Well, to be honest, I wonder if I really watched the damned thing before since I didn’t remember anything about it. Anyway, it was basically another typical romantic-comedy with a really silly concept and, to be honest, I actually had a hard time to care about this idea. I mean, wouldn’t it have been more effective to simply ask her fiancé who is this Damon Bradley since they were apparently in high-school together? Furthermore, the way they handled Italy as if it was some kind of postcard was rather annoying and the only scene involving the Italian people which did work for me was the final scene when they all stopped the plane for her. However, I always had a weak spot for Marisa Tomei and she never looked so gorgeous before. Furthermore, even though her character tended to be slightly annoying with her obsessive mind, Tomei still managed to make her quite charming. On top of that, she had some fine chemistry with Robert Downey Jr. who was also quite pitch-perfect here. They took their time to bring Downey in the story but it was worth it as it became so much more entertaining when he got finally involved. I also did appreciate the fact that, almost right away, he confessed that he was actually not Damon Bradley. However, his whole plan with Billy Zane was actually rather misguided and boring and it felt as if it had been added just to fill in some running time. Anyway, to conclude, in spite of its flaws, it was still a decent watch and it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
