A good movie

Since I always had a weak sport for Jacques Perrin's nature documentaries, I was quite eager to check this one out as well. Well, once again, Perrin delivered some visually amazing scenes combined with some very nice music. Indeed, there is something so fascinating and relaxing about his work and it goes way beyond what you could see on National Geographic for instance. The only thing that prevented this movie from being truly amazing was the addition of some boring and misguided comments. Indeed, Perrin's awesome trademark has been in the past to show his images without someone constantly explaining what was going on which is such a great approach but, here, there was still some really useless narration that did break the spell. At least, this narration was only sporadic. To make things worse, in the 3rd act, they started to give also some preachy ecological message which was actually rather annoying. I mean, sure, what they said was accurate but these movies should remain some work of Art instead of being used for some political agenda. Anyway, in spite of these flaws, it was still a really strong documentary and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย

See it! Hear it!

If someone were to ask you, What is the ocean, exactly? You could marshal statistics and Latin names to try to explain it, but really it isn't something that you can learn in any book; you have to see it for yourself.ย

Take in the quiet wonder of the life and vastness of the ocean.ย
