An average movie

Back in the 90's, I was a huge fan of Abel Ferrara's work so I was really dying to watch this flick. Ferrara has never been an easy director but I always found his movies really mesmerizing. However, all the movies he directed during the last decade were more alienating than fascinating to watch and this flick is not an exception, I'm afraid. Indeed, the directing was decent, nothing mind-blowing though, there was a very good cast (Christopher Walken, Willem Dafoe, Asia Argento, Annabella Sciorra, Gretchen Mol) but it was just very slow, there was almost nothing going on during the whole thing and there was literally not one single line of dialog during the whole movie which didn't sound really cryptic. And yet, I cannot completely dismiss this flick. Indeed, Ferrara has such a different approach concerning the way of telling a story, it is still rather refreshing compared to your average Hollywood production. To conclude, even though it is rather slow and even boring at some point, it remains an interesting flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Abel Ferrara's movies.
