Mr Nobody es una de esas películas que esperaba ver bastante, con tantas criticas positivas que había recibido y el montón de temas sobre física cuántica que trataba, y bien luego de haber visto la película unas veces e intentar sacar una conclusión sobre su calidad veamos como me pareció pero antes veamos el argumento:

la historia nos narra un futuro donde la sociedad termino por desarrollar la capacidad de ser inmortales, ahora el mundo es utópico e idealizado, en medio de esto está el señor Nemo Nobody el ultimo ser humano no inmortal que queda, ya al borde de su muerte, es así como un entrevistador de una cadena televisiva que transmitiría su muerte frente a toda la población le pide que le narre su vida, entonces donde Nemo empieza a contarla pero con la gran peculiaridad de que este va cambiando las acciones cometidas por el en su vida debido a que conoce todas las posibles vidas que pudo haber tenido gracias a que antes de venir al mundo los ángeles del olvido, aquellos encargados de borrar toda la memoria de su futura vida a los niños no nacidos, se olvidan de borrar la de Nemo, es a través de esto se produce un efecto mariposa en donde los pequeños eventos terminan causando diferentes resultados lo cual termina por producir diversas versiones de esta con distintas consecuencias y se empieza a tocar temas sobre la teoría del caos y las multiples vidas que una persona puede tener en su vida al igual que la vida y existencia, la naturaleza del tiempo y su impacto del universo, etc

bueno ya empezando les diré que si, la película no solo me decepciono sino que me parece una de las obras mas pretenciosas que he tenido la desgracia de haber visto dado que su abordaje de sus temas resulto ser bastante pobre y básico para algo tan complejo como puede ser el efecto mariposa, verán si bien hay acciones cuyo resultado es debido a la consecuencia de otro la exploración de esto se reduce a solo esa acción como cuando plantean la forma en como se conocen los padres de este debido a que el viento ocasiono que una hoja de un parque volara hasta donde estaba su padre lo cual hizo que se resbalara y conociera la madre, esto termina siendo una simplificación porque si las pequeñas acciones producen otras mas grandes y estas se van acumulando como es posible que solo se limite a algo tan pequeño como lo antes nombrado, te hace preguntarte, que ocasiono que dicha hoja fuera la única de varias, por que no se desprendió antes o que es lo que ocasiono que el viento estuviera ahí para hacer que la hoja fuera en esa dirección, o que ocasiono que el padre estuviera en esa ubicacion especifica, y que ocasiono las acciones que lo llevaron ahí y las del viento y la misma hoja por lo que solo se ve un pequeño pedazo de algo mucho mas grande e interesante, a la vez que esto termina por generar conveniencias enormes, digo que pasaría si esto el evento no hubiera pasado debido también a las variaciones del efecto, entonces Nemo no hubiera nacido y no hubiera trama, lo que termina por destruir gran parte de la temática del film, esto se produce en diversas secciones de la historia en pro de crear subtramas especificas en vez de miles de variables y hablando de conveniencias he de decir que la habilidad de saber todo sobre su vida que Nemo posee se basa en una gran conveniencia, si estos ángeles debían borrar la memoria de los niños, entonces por que se les olvido la de este, que fue lo que ocasiono dicho accidente, que hubiera pasado si este error no hubiera pasado, la trama no exitiria. Ademas que la existencia de los ángeles es algo que ni siquiera lo explican y el hecho de que los niños puedan saber todo sobre su futura vida aun cuando no la han vivido

Un aspecto que cabe destacar es que esto de diversas vidas de Nobody tambien se aborda de forma débil, la película mientras cuenta la vida de Nemo esta apenas se limita a sus relaciones amorosas, cada historia se limita en ver como sus acciones terminan por llevarla con una de las 3 chicas con las que se encuentra y ver como seria su vida con ella o sin ella debido a circunstancias aleatorias producidas por el efecto, de todas las múltiples variantes que pueden haber la historia solo se limita a mostrarte esto, en vez de mostrar mas realidades posibles, como el tener, aprender, vivir de formas distintas con millones de cambios unas de otras que pueden ser cosas insignificantes como que tenga un auto diferente a otras colosalmente distintas como estar en otro país con otra familia, aunque si hay cosas distintas que se puede resaltar como tener hijos, carreras y personalidades distintas no termina por abarcar todas las variables al restringirse a lo antes mencionado. Aunque no me impresiona dado que para abarcar esto es una tarea increíble y las pocas subtramas que si pueden desviarse de esto de las novias poseen poco tiempor en pantalla y pasan a la irrelevancia

otras cosas que me sacaron de lugar es cuando la trama metía cosas sin sentido como helicópteros llevando agua como si de un bloque gigante se tratase o otras donde quitan el asfalto de una calle con una especie de rodillo, entiendo que una obra que posea ambigüedades es a veces necesario para tratar sus temas, pero estas cosas en que ayudan a la historia?

Hay conceptos en la historia que nunca son profundizados como la civilizacion futurista de los inmortales los cuales no se sabe como lograron ser inmortales, como les afecta o que sienten al pensar en la muerte o el monton de dudas existenciales que se pueden explorar

los personajes por su parte no me interesaron, los padres de nemo por ejemplo carecen de personalidad y parecen mas herramientas argumentales para que se produzca el efecto dado que lo único que hicieron que tuvo repercusio fue el divorciarse lo que ocasiono que dos realidades se creasen y asi Nemo pueda tener que estar con una de las chicas en la linea de su madre (anna una mujer que fue hermanastra de nemo en su adolescencia la cual es la elección preferida por el prota) y la del padre que tiene a las otras dos (elise que es una loca depresiva y jean que no se caracteriza por algo mas que el ser aburrida), Nemo por su parte es el único personaje que en verdad tiene peso en la historia dado que todos los demás pueden remplazados por otros gracias a los saltos de las lineas temporales, y es el que tiene conflictos interesantes como tener que lidiar con sus conflictos amorosos ya sean el soportar que una de sus chicas termine muerta, loca, que sea de su familia, aunque algo que me molesta es su capacidad de saber todo sobre su vida y el futuro ya que le da la capacidad de saber que cosas debe hacer para o terminar en esas malas situaciones y aun asi se mete en estas

El final es, como dicen en ingles, un ''clusterfuck'', dado que plantea tantas cosas al final que nunca termina por abarcar ninguna de estas como se debe y hace del conjunto algo mas ambiguo y carente de lógica, te plantean 3 tipos de conclusión, la primera es donde el prota sabiendo lo del efecto mariposa sopla una hoja en su niñez para que a la larga esto genere una corriente de aire que lo despierte cuando sea adulto, se vuelva a encontrar convenientemente con anna (dado que las demás subtramas valen verga al terminar siempre de forma negativa) y viva con ella feliz, luego Nemo muere en esa sociedad de inmortales y todo por alguna razón empiece a ir en reversa (según dicen es debido al big chunch que reinicia el universo lo que genera que el tiempo se rebobine cual time reset), o sea con su poder pudo solucionar sin problemas el conflicto y usar el efecto de forma que lo beneficie a el, no confrontando sus problemas como es debido y de forma practica y que la lógica para que este viento lo despierte en este especifico momento y lugar no tiene sentido y el big crunch termina por ser la gota que derrama el vaso, ocurre en otro momento tan conveniente y hace de la historia un despropósito al borrar cada evento; el segundo final es el que menos sentido tiene, plantean que todo lo que ocurrió fue en realidad una maquinación de la mente de Nemo cuando sus padres se separaron, bien esto puede ser usado para poder excusar las ambigüedades de la trama, sin embargo hace al igual que la primera un despropósito a todo el rodaje ya que nada de eso paso en verdad; la tercera es la mas insultante, es en síntesis que todas las cosas vividas por Nemo pasaron, que cambian debido al big crunch que hace de cada universo con una variante y como el prota es capaz de recordarlas al saber todo de su vida este termina feliz cuando ocurre el big crunch de nuevo dado que sabe que tiene que hacer para estar con anna, es el mismo planteamiento idiota de la primera donde Nemo puede salirse con la suya sin repercusiones solo que aquí el infeliz esta consciente de eso. Y lo peor es que esto lo quiere abarcar todo de golpe en vez de fijarse en una sola resolucion

en conclusión la peli es kk 3/10

I have known of this film for some time. I have seen moments from it and I've seen it floating around on Netflix and such. I finally decided to check it out to see what it was all about. I mean the plot sounded really interesting and Jared Leto is a really good actor despite Suicide Squad's "Joker". I've never heard of or seen anything from Jaco van Dormael. I'm really curious as to how this will be.

That was insanely good and very different. I loved the genre bending here. It's a mixture of science fiction, romance, and drama. The idea of string theory is one that I find absolutely fascinating. The little bits where we get scientific explanations of things was different and yet I welcomed it. I had no idea Juno Temple was here and I absolutely adore her. I thought everyone did excellent jobs with their roles and all the characters were quite interesting. The idea of the whole movie is one that really makes you think even long after watching. Suddenly as I'm writing the review for this I have revelations of why they chose to do things with certain characters and moments. Anyways it's just a really captivating tale that really makes you think about things.

This is not just a movie but an experience. To fully become invested you must not take any distractions. This is a thinking person's film and if you aren't paying attention you will assuredly be lost. So I will only suggest this to those willing to set aside a couple hours to focus on what they are watching. It has a great cast that play their characters well. The story is quite fascinating with detail and how it deals with itself. I'm so very glad I have watched this and I wonder what I will catch once I watch this again someday. I only regret I haven't seen it sooner.

It is one of the many movies I kept coming accross on this wonderful website and since everyone seemed to be really enthusiast about it, it made me really curious. And, boy, I wasn't disappointed... Indeed, it turned out to be a fascinating and really bold experimental feature challenging some of the most basic narrative rules. Contrary to most viewers, I have seen Jaco Van Dormael previous work, so I knew he was a pretty good director but I didn't expect him to make something so impressive. I really wonder how he managed to get the fundings for this flick. I mean, it really looked amazing and rather often quite expensive but it is far from being made for a mainstream audience and apparently, it was barely seen upon release. Anyway, the whole thing is a huge (almost 3 hours long) mindf*ck, dealing with life, death, love, the future, the past and many other things that went over my head. Not only was it pretty deep and weird, there was also some fun stuff with some (seemingly) random and quite often hilarious small events taking place every 5 minutes. My only complain I would have is that, since you keep jumping from one story line to another without much continuation, you had only a few minutes to get acquainted with the characters and what was going on before being moved to something drastically different, so it gets rather alienating sometimes. It didn't help either that Juno Temple and Diane Kruger, two actresses who didn't look like each other at all, portrayed the same character. Still, it remains an amazing experimental feature, something to cherish, and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

I love Jared leto

This movie is brillantly amazing. It is perfect. There is nothing possibly bad I could say about this movie other than it was so tough to find on DVD. The acting is spot on, the plot is thick and juicy, and filmed beautifully. Dormael's best work, Leto's as well. He has come a long way since the American Psycho days, and I hope he keeps up his singing as well as his acting. It is perfection. 10/10

As Long As We Don't Choose, Everything Remains Possible

Mr. Nobody is a 2009 film directed by Jaco Van Dormael who took thirteen years to come up with this and the hard work clearly shows. It is one of those mind fuck cinema which we rarely get to watch. Thirty minutes into it and I lost the track of what's real and what's surreal. It went on with it's uneven plot ends and every time the story takes a turn it becomes even more beautiful.


It's a story of Neo (No body) who is recounting his life story to a reporter. He is less than clear, often thinking that he is only thirty-four years of age. But his story becomes more confusing after he does focus on the fact of his current age. He takes us down memory lane at three primary points in his life: at age nine (when his parents get divorced), age fifteen and age thirty-four. The confusing aspect of the story is that he tells of alternate life paths, often changing course of the story with the flick of a decision at each of those ages.



The multilayered story holds itself till the end and continues to fascinate besides it is so well shot that nothing seems impossible. Every shot seems well rehearsed and so well co ordinated. The cast is adorable. Jared Leto outshines himself in a role of a life time and above all the direction is mind blowing. The starting remains my personal favourite though.



In totality it's something you shouldn't miss. Forget your popcorn for a couple of hours and enjoy the spectacle.

Yea this film is easily the most underrated unheard of film of the year. The bizarre factor in this movie is off the charts and it stuns me as I begin to think about the film to try and wrap my brain around just even the CONCEPT of the film itself hahaha. Mr. Nobody is quite deep and not for the average viewer..they wouldn't handle it well.

Jared Leto...who would think that someone with above average singing talent, could turn out to be a versatile actor. I knew that he was in Fight Club, with a small role and a few other films but never expected him to star in such a gem as this. My friend Ryan showed me this film, after he watched it in Russia with some people with little knowledge of the film and I was very impressed by the movie suggestion..

Anyways Leto plays this character: Nemo. Nemo, the cast and freakin' directer/writer Jaco Van Dormael begin to twist you're mind as if you began listening to The Number Twelve Looks Like You.


I compare this film to Inception due to similar ideas, imagery and mind screws they both produce on your brain. There's a very Matrix-y feel to the movie as well..the film definitely has quite a bit of sci-fi as well as
Drama/fantasy/romanticism..that's what I could guess classify this film as.

Juno Temple, Toby Regbo and Diane Kruger have stellar performances and suit their roles very well. Leto steals the movie with no exceptions tho. I still can't believe that this is a foreign film and I never heard of it before and...no-one really knows about it. In The United States, this film would be quite extravagant and be a 90Million plus grosser..in my opinion.

The ending of the film, depending on what you gather, could either leave you with questions, confused or marveled..heck or all 3 hahaa. It's quite weird, it gave me a few chuckles and it's just a very well directed/written film. If you told me Nolan directed it, I would believe you easily. Mr. Nobody is that good. I don't recommend kids, panicky or people that get freaked out easily ..to watch the film. It's dark and very interesting however it could screw with someone enough to question things.

Dislikes Clocking at around 2 hours and 30 minutes, the film could shed 15-25 minutes. I enjoy long films but even this felt a bit long in some areas of the movie.

I recommend everyone to find this film and watch it. Some will get it and some wont. Either way I loved it and hope to watch it again and buy it eventually. Saying that it's one of the best films of 2009, is not strange by any means and it deserves to be recognized.
