Madagascar review

Posted : 2 years, 1 month ago on 20 March 2022 01:06

I did find Madagascar fun, entertaining and enjoyable. I do agree, that the script was a tad weak at times. While very funny in places, it was not so funny in others, probably to do with the pop culture references, that children won't understand. I liked the idea of the plot, but it is fair to say, that it isn't exactly what I can call action-packed; it does start off a little slow. But the last half once we are introduced to the jungle creatures picks up the pace. However, there are many redeeming qualities, the animation is lovely with colourful backgrounds and good character animation. The soundtrack is very good too, and so is the voice acting, who made the most of the questionable material they were given. Jada Pinkett Smith is given little to do, but Chris Rock and Ben Stiller seem to be having great fun as Marty and Alex. David Schimmer has his moments as Melmann. Though my favourite characters were the four penguins, they were so cute and funny. And the jungle creatures, voiced by Cedric the Entertainer and Sacha Boren Cohen were a hoot. All in all, above average, could have done with a more tightly structured story and a (little) funnier script, but it is likable and entertaining. 7/10 Bethany Cox

A good movie

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this animated picture but it was eventually better than I thought it would be. First of all, I really liked the style of the animation which was very original and great to look at. Furthermore, the story was quite entertaining and there were some awesome supporting characters above all King Julien (it was such a great idea to cast Sacha Baron Cohen, he really had a blast with this character) and, of course, the awesome pinguins. The main 4 characters were alright but, to be honest, they were not really inspiring but they were entertaining enough. I think the concept of the story did work out pretty well but it had its limits (Alex is a lion and naturally wants to eat ALL his friends but the movie of course won't allow it..). Eventually, it is nothing really revolutionary, especially compared to the best movies produced by Pixar and it never comes near this level but it was still better than all those animated flicks involving talking animals. Anyway, in spite of its flaws, it was still really well made, entertaining and just plain fun and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in animated features.

I've seen this a billion times before as far as I can remember, its average but has its funny moments. It was interesting seeing Ben Stiller and Chris Rock together for the voices in this film. It worked, just very strange..

Basically all you need to know about this movie is that it is enjoyed a lot more by kids, the storyline is pretty funny but average, the cast was excellent choice and ofcourse Sacha Bohen Cohen was hillarious as always.

I recommend you see this for a laugh, nothing more.
I like to move it move it, he likes to... MOVE IT!
