Poetic, Beauty, Dazzling

Posted : 14 years ago on 19 April 2010 04:48

Poetic, beauty, and dazzling are three words I use to describe this fantastic movie, but its not a movie for everyone. This is a movie you either love or hate, I just so happen to love it. What really surprised me was Robert Pattinson's performance, he was excellent. Only seeing him in Twilight, I hated his acting until I saw this. He will make you laugh and he will make you cry in this movie. I also really loved the story. I can keep going on how much I loved this movie, but I won't, it might take a while. This movie is very different from all other movies. Everyone should give it a chance, you might just love it. 9/10

Little Ashes review

Awkward and tragic. I love the idea of creating a film documenting the time and the lives of these three artists who were so coincidentally placed in the same moment in time and tragedy in the same school in Madrid. Unfortunately, this was not exactly the film I had hoped for.

I must admit that I was going for four stars in the beginning. Pattinson is horrifically cast, and I found myself wondering if they could find a Spanish actor for Garcia Lorca, why in the world could they not find one that could at least pull off a believable Spanish accent for Dali. I also am certain that this film should have been in Spanish. I cringed every time Garcia Lorca's words were dubbed over in English. Still, it was a portrayal of the life and times of two very great artists, and my fascination over the tragic death of Garcia Lorca impells me to love this film.

It had me crying by the end, and that in itself is worth the eight stars I'm giving it. Here's hoping that the next one is in Castellano and focused on the horror developing in Spain at the time.
