An average movie

Posted : 8 years, 6 months ago on 4 November 2015 12:56

I already saw this movie but since it was ages ago, I thought I might as well check it out again. Back then, after his breakthrough performance in ‘Thelma & Louise’, Brad Pitt would be groom to become the next classic Hollywood star with his heartthrob good looks and, in the process, he ended up making such movies for a while. Anyway, coming back to our main feature, I have to admit it was not bad, it was actually rather well made and there was a solid cast involved (Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn, Julia Ormond, Henry Thomas) but I still had a hard time to care about the damned thing though. Basically, they went for an epic romance and, I guess, it is all a matter of taste, and if you are really into such fluffy romance, you will probably love the damned thing but, as far as I was concerned, it was pretty much a Western soap opera. Concerning Brad Pitt’s acting skills, to be honest, it was obvious that he still needed more practice and, except for looking really dashing, he didn’t do anything really impressive in the acting department for this movie. Furthermore, even though Julia Ormond never looked more lovely, her character did hook up with the 3 brothers through the course of this movie, pretty much ruining this family in the process (killing herself probably didn’t help either) so I had a hard time to really root for her. Anyway, to conclude, even though I’m not a huge fan, I have to admit that it is still a decent romantic feature with an epic scope and it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

Not worth it

Personally, I thought it was terrible. There didn't seem to be any point to it all. I had no sympathy for any of the characters and could not force myself to feel anything for them no matter how I tried. I searched for any redeeming qualities and couldn't find anything. The movie was simply miserable to watch and I still cannot grasp what the director was meaning to say with this film. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The epic story of three brothers and a woman who changed their lives.

A superb cast: Aidan Quinn, Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Henry Thomas and Julia Ormond.

Brilliant direction. Splendid cinematography.

Legends of the Fall review

It was beautiful and amazing in ways it is hard to describe, this is definitely one of the best movies I have seen..

It is the story of Tristan and his family of two brothers and what life is like for them. Together they bond well when they were young, and the story follows through to when they are men and decide to go to war. And that's just the start of it, it follows all the events of Tristan's life, who he has lost, who he loved and the many adventures he faced.

Brad Pitt gave this movie a whole new perspective. I can't imagine it being the same without him, he put so much emotion into his character and made the movie more memorable.
Anthony Hopkins as the father was also a fantastic choice, perfect for his role in this movie. The only slight casting problem was Julia Ormond - Maybe it was just her character but I really didn't like her at all in this movie..

I recommend this to anyone, whether you like sad films or not this is a must see!
