The Last of the Mohicans review

Posted : 7 years, 1 month ago on 8 April 2017 07:58

During the French and Indian War, Cora Munro and her younger sister Alice are on their way to Fort Henry, unaware that the fort, under the command of their father Colonel Munro, is besieged by Indians in league with the French. Leading the girls is Magua, a heinous Indian who has been cast out from the Huron tribe. En route, they meet Uncas, Chingachgook and the scout Hawkeye. Realizing Magua's identity, Hawkeye attempts to capture him, but the scoundrel eludes him. Next morning, the group is captured, but Uncas, Chingachgook and Hawkeye escape and rescue their party. Just as they approach the fort, Colonel Munro is forced to surrender with the agreement that the women and children be spared. Meanwhile, the Hurons, incited by Magua, attack the fort and a terrible massacre ensues. Magua takes Cora and Alice prisoner in the Delaware Indian camp. Soon after, Uncas arrives and reveals himself to be the "last of the Mohicans" and therefore a royal member of the Delawares. Attempting to accommodate royalty, a compromise is reached among the Indians: Cora is to go with Magua and Alice is to be freed. Later, Magua murders both Cora and Uncas but is felled by a bullet from Hawkeye. The Delawares then lament the passing of the last of the Mohicans.
