Killing Me Softly Reviews

After reaching some major success and recognition abroad, Chen Kaige decided to make one (and so far only) english speaking feature. It gathered some really average reviews but I don't think it was that bad actually. The main characters are portrayed by Joseph Fiennes (Ralph's little brother) and Heather Graham (a major sexpot) and even though they both delivered some decent performances, I couldn't help thinking that the movie would have been better with some stronger actors. The story is basically your typical erotic thriller with some improbable steamy sex scenes and a succession of even more improbable twists at the end. I make it sound very lame and even though it was nothing mind-blowing whatsoever, it was still entertaining somehow. Still, we are far from the masterpieces directed by Chen Kaige and the whole thing seems rather a waste of his time and precious talent. Still, if you don't expect anything amazing, it is actually a decent erotic thriller and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
