The House of Mirth Reviews

Honestly, this movie really seemed like a rather obscure feature and I seriously had no idea what to expect from it but since there was a pretty cool cast, I thought I should give it a try. To start with, like everyone else, I mostly know Gillian Anderson for 'The X-files'. So it was quite surprising to see her in a costume drama like this one but I must say that she did pull it off pretty well. The rest of cast (Dan Aykroyd, Anthony LaPaglia, Laura Linney, Elizabeth McGovern, Eric Stoltz) did also a very good job as well. To be honest, I’m usually not a big fan of those costume dramas. Indeed, most of the time, they just deal with some rich people from the upper class constantly whining about how life is difficult for them "Bouh... Bouh... I'm so rich but I'm so unhappy...". This time, even though the story was still not completely amazing, it was still pretty good and I really liked how they displayed how far jealousy can go and how destructive it can be. To conclude, even though it is actually nothing really mind-blowing, it is actually a pretty good flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
