Herbie: Fully Loaded review

Posted : 12 years, 1 month ago on 13 April 2012 11:39

Of course it's a silly movie but an entertaining one at that. This is one Lindsay Lohan's best performance and was very convincing behind the wheel. The supporting ain't bad either: Justin Long was surprisingly good and Matt Dillon plays an interesting villain.

I'm still not clear about the whole deal about Herbie but I don't need to know. It's an entertaining flick and perfect for boring nights or lousy days. I didn't like it much but it did have some funny moments and my favourite scene is the street race between Herbie and Trip (seriously, the Born to be Wild soundtrack was epic)... My sister's liked it and that's what counts!

6.5/10

An average movie

I did watch this movie way before Lindsay Lohan became such a mess (she might have been in trouble already but nothing compared to what’s going on nowadays) and, even before that, back in those days, she still had the potential to become a huge star (maybe not a great actress but that’s another matter altogether). Anyway, I didn’t expect much from this flick but I thought Lohan was alright (at least, she still looked healthy here) but the movie itself was quite boring. I mean, they took the old Herbie concept (which wasn't great in the first place already, if you ask me) but they didn't add anything new to the mix. I have to admit it though, I'm probably not the best person to review this flick though since I don’t belong to the target audience and I did like those old Herbie movies when I was a kid. Still, I don’t think it was a great idea to mix this teen-star with this weird car, I mean, during the whole thing, you wonder what’s the movie actually about, about her or about the car? Anyway, I guess it is actually a decent movie if you are younger than 13 years old but otherwise it will probably bore you to tears.

It's a Herbie movie

Suspend disbelief. Believe that winning races is just a matter of wanting it bad enough. Allow an anthropomorphic car to be as cheesy as possible and break the laws of physics willy-nilly.

The little kids'll love it. The adults won't mind it if they can really disconnect their brains before turning it on.

Let's face it, it's a herbie movie. It's just the same as the old ones, with a vaneer of controlled sass put over the top by Miss Lohan
