A good movie

Posted : 7 years, 12 months ago on 17 May 2016 09:54

First of all, it's rather amazing that, after 70 years, they don't have exhausted yet the subject and they still can make such movies about WWII. Indeed, even though it wasnโ€™t really original, it was really solid, it wasn't missing much to be really amazing and, in my opinion, it might be actually better than 'Inglourious Basterds', the other WWII feature starring Brad Pitt killing a lot of nazis. Basically, what I enjoyed the most is how raw and dark the war was depicted. Indeed, it was pretty much hell and you can see that, within one single day, their youngest recruit would be probably traumatized for the rest of his life. Furthermore, the cast was really good and I was especially impressed by Shia LaBeouf, one of the actors with the lousiest reputation nowadays, as he was able to give so much emotion such by staring at someone. Eventually, what really prevented this movie to completely work for me was the fact that, during the last act, it became a badass action-packed war feature which wasn't really a bad thing but I preferred when they were focusing more on the psychological impact of this horror. Also, the other thing that slightly bothered was the fact that David Ayer made pretty much the same mistake he made in 'Training Day' which was to introduce someone new to this world and, within a day, to make him experience too many thing. At least, it did work better here than in 'Training Day' which I always found ridiculous because of that ridiculously tight time frame. ย Anyway, to conclude, even if it was maybe not a masterpiece, it was still one of the best WWII features I have seen for a very long time and it is definitely worth a look.ย

Go see FURY.
It is brilliant , perfectly shows how brutal a war can be.
it takes right back to WWII , the worst sides of the war are depicted so brilliantly.
absolutely amazing performance by all of the starring cast .

Fury review

I wanted to see this since before the trailer was out and just the name and the cast were online. David Ayer is one director I just highly enjoy. When it comes to brutal stories he doesn't let it go easy. The dialogue was good, but the execution from the cast made it way better. One particular line stood out for me because I think it defines what happens in this movie. "Ideals are peaceful. History is violent." The cast did an incredible job. I did think Jon Bernthal was like a war damaged Shane though. There is a lot of stuff I haven't ever seen done in a war movie before that made this above much of the rest. It's brutal. It's intense. At times it's even quite a bit gory. If you have a weak stomach this movie will not be for you. Even when it's not dealing with violence it still makes you uneasy and nervous. Fury itself is definitely a character of it's own and I think that's how the audience should feel about it. This may be a violent heavy film, but I do think it was character driven as well. I would definitely watch this again.

War Is Hell

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 2 November 2014 04:20

War is hell. And it's a living hell, as seen through the eyes of green-as-grass newbie typist-cum-tanker, Norman. The good guys aren't always the winners and the bad guys aren't always what they seem. It is also, to my recollection, the first time a movie showed Hitler's Germany, in it's death throes, utilizing (and brutalizing) the Third Reich's children - Hitler's last gasp at surviving the war, and the depiction is utterly, heinously real. This particular story isn't based on actual events, but rather the combined recounting of the men of the 2nd Armor Division. Unlike "Saving Private Ryan," where the actions of many saved the life of one, the actions of Sherman Tank "Fury," commanded by Wardaddy Collier and her crew, helped pave the way the final victory over Germany. If your heart isn't pounding in your chest by the end, you need to have your pulse checked!
