Frailty review

Posted : 7 years, 2 months ago on 5 March 2017 02:29

Notes:
*I knew about this movie for a long while.
*My parents watched it and I believe we owned it at some point.
*I recall them liking it at least I think I do.
*Anyways it's another Bill Paxton film I decided to check out that I haven't seen.
*The cast has some really good choices and some who have become more relevant today.
*This was the first film Bill Paxton directed the next one was The Greatest Game Ever Played which was also really good.
*This is the first film written by Brent Hanley and the only one I ever heard of.
*Thanks to Netflix for pulling out stuff you forget about.
*So let's see if this is yet another good performance from the legend Bill Paxton.

Pros:
*Bill Paxton is awesome here and we get a good amount of him here.
*The story was unique and fun.
*I did get vibes of say The Usual Suspects meets The Sixth Sense sort of.
*I like the mystery of the whole thing.
*There are some really great moments throughout.
*The ending was excellent.

Cons:
*I would have liked the kills to be more intense even if it wasn't the focus.
*It left me curious on a couple things.
*There are some moments that felt a little silly.

Verdict:
This is definitely one film I wish I would have seen sooner. The acting was great. Bill Paxton does an excellent job on and off screen. It keeps you interested from start to finish. It also keeps you wondering what is really going on. Really this one definitely needs to be seen if you haven't yet.

A good movie

Since I kept hearing good things about this flick, I was really eager to watch it. Indeed, Bill Paxton has built up an interesting career as an actor and this was his directing debut but I didn't expect him to produce something so striking. Indeed, it is honestly one of the most realistic and spellbinding movie dealing with a serial killer I have ever seen. There were some supernatural elements but the directing was so clever that you are never sure if the father (also portrayed by Bill Paxton) is completely crazy or indeed some kind of prophet. It was really spellbinding and well handled. Another fascinating aspect was the involvement of his kids in his 'quest' and to see the impact on them was just again really realistic and rather heartbreaking to watch. However, since it is a thriller, they felt compelled to add a twist ending, something I always dread... I know, they wanted to make it all sound wise and clever but it had just the opposite effect as it really undermined the interesting ideas they built up before. Still, in spite of this disappointing ending, it remains an original and fascinating thriller and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

Watched this on line last week and didnt expect much to be honest - nice suprise. Good little film clever story and well worth watching. Alittle slow in parts and not edge of the seat entertainment but pleasing.
