An average movie

Posted : 8 years ago on 21 April 2016 11:54

To be honest, it has been a while since I saw this flick. In fact, if I recall it correctly, I actually even saw it in the movie theater when it was released. Even though it might seem weird that a 12 year old boy would watch something like this, somehow, it still made sense, at least, to me. Indeed, since there was some Science-Fictions elements involved (it was dealing with a guy from the 30โ€™s going into cryogenic sleep and waking up in the 90โ€™s) so it must have sounded pretty neat to me. However, I didnโ€™t notice that it was also a romance and this aspect didnโ€™t really work for me, Iโ€™m afraid. I mean, I have to admit it, to mix a romantic tale with some SF was an interesting concept but, in my opinion, the love story was just way to cheesy. At least, Mel Gibson was a very good choice to play the lead. Indeed, even though his reputation never really recovered from the various scandals he has been involved with during the last 10 years, I always believed that he was one of the very few action movie stars who actually had a decent acting range and, for this reason, his character was actually quite compelling to watch in this movie. To conclude, even though it was slightly disappointing, it was still a decent watch and I think it is worth a look, especially if you have a weak spot for Mel Gibson.ย
