I wasn’t sure what to expect from this flick but since I always had a weak spot for Jeff Bridges and Michelle Pfeiffer, I was quite eager to check it out. Honestly, it wasn’t really original and fairly predictable but both actors were so charismatic, it thought it was still quite enjoyable. Another interesting aspect of this flick was to have the Bridges playing siblings and, even though I was sure they already did it before, it was actually the very first time (I guess I mixed them up with some other famous brothers like the Quaids or the Carradines). Anyway, they made an intriguing trio and the fact that they delivered some solid performances might have helped as well. At the time, apparently, many actresses such as Madonne, Debra Winger, Brooke Shields, Jodie Foster and Jennifer Jason Leigh either turned this movie down or were in talks to play Suzy but, in my opinion, Pfeiffer was the right choice and you have to give her some credit for singing all these songs herself. Jeff and Beau Bridges also learned to play all the songs and this commitment from the 3 actors made the whole thing even more genuine to watch. To conclude, even though it is nothing really amazing, I thought it was a solid feature and I think it is actually worth a look.
