An average movie

I wasn't sure what to expect from this flick but since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. First of all, to be honest, I have never been a huge fan of the Eurovision but I have to admit that I have actually seen it many times with my wife (in fact, almost every year since we have been together) so I have a decent knowledge of this competition. Well, anyway, it turned out to be a rather weird movie. Indeed, basically, they tried to make at the same time a parody (with Will Ferrell playing the lead, you shouldn't expect anything else) but also a love letter to the song competition (apparently, Ferrell has been a fan for many years and this movie has been a passion project for him) so there was this rather awkward balance that never really worked. Of course, there was also the fact that Ferrell was playing one of his typical moronic and cringe-inducing characters. Sure, he has pretty much build up his whole career playing such characters but, by now, I'm pretty much done with this gimmick. In fact, the whole thing worked much better as long as they focused on Rachel McAdams's character. Indeed, McAdams did actually a really solid job here and she managed to make her character quirky enough but she was still charming and convincing enough as a singer. Basically, if they would have ditched Will Ferrell for someone less goofy, it could have actually worked. Another issue was the fact that it was just way too long. Seriously, there is no reason whatsoever that such a comedy would require 2 hours. For example, they could have removed Dan Stevens who was playing some Russian singer with a really obscure agenda. Anyway, to conclude, in spite of its flaws, I guess it could have been worse and it might be worth a look but only if you really like the genre.

listen 2 SOUNDTRACK & watch 4 Rachel McAdams only

I like the soundtrack more than the movie. However; cant go wrong with Rachel McAdams! Loved her since The Hot Chick and Mean Girls. Now as for Will Ferrell... I dont find him funny at all, he's a great comedian for the most part, but in general... I dont like him. And in Eurovision; its still the same.

I wasnt planning on watching this movie until I seent a mini clip on Instagram promoting the movie, so I then sat and watched this 2 hour film, and... like I said; soundtrack is so fun to listen to!

The main things I disliked about this film was:
1: Graham Norton; could make do without his bullshit ass comments, like shut up dude.
2: Will (who's American) attacking 4 white USA teens. References bout drugs and Fortnite? What script writer came up with that?

Honestly the film didnt need to be 2 hours. But I guess a storyline subplot with Dan Stevens (who's british in real life but plays a gay russian in this) was necessary. He's not attractive, but oh well.

CRACKHEAD Demi Lovato is in this too. Thats cool.

All in All. Listen to the soundtrack.
