An average movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from thid movie and since it had a decent reputation and since I always had a weak spot for Gwyneth Paltrow, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventally, even though it turned out to be a decent watch, I can’t say I was really blown away by the whole thing. I mean, sure, it was not bad at all, the whole thing looked gorgeous, the directing was fine and the cast was really neat (Gwyneth Paltrow, Greta Scacchi, Alan Cumming, Jeremy Northam, Toni Collette, Ewan McGregor). Unfortunately, I have to admit that I had a rather hard time to care for the romantic intrigues of the spoiled rich Victorian society. I mean, sure, you could argue that I shouldn’t expect anything else from a adaptation of a classic Jane Austen novel. To make things worse, I thought that the main character Emma Woodhouse was actually rather arrogant, self-absorbed and even obnoxious sometimes. Anyway, to conclude, it is pretty obvious that this movie didn’t really work for me, I have to admit that it was actually a very well made feature and it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
