The Sinful Dwarf review

Posted : 9 years, 5 months ago on 18 November 2014 08:27

Really not as bad as some would say. Sure, shocking by some standards and to anyone who has never seeing this type of film before. (exploitation) As one who has seen the likes of Pink Flamingos, Salon Kitty, and Salo, I have to say this movie is considerably tame. Still, I did feel a bit off watching it. I think it was mostly due to the stigma that comes along with this movie. Kind of like the first time I watched Salo. You just feel a bit dirty and unsettled by what you've watched. Mostly in part, I think, by the simplistic way this was filmed. It makes it seem more personal a venture, as you are constantly aware that you are a fly on the wall, voyeur, watching something bizarre unfold. I'm glad I did watch it though.

All in all, the concept was simple and a very easy story but completely feasible. A story that could very well be done today, but by no means as... Exploitative. It would not be as focused on the dwarf aspect or the gratuitous shots of writhing, heroin infused, nude women. The Sinful dwarf wasn't even the main villain. Just the instrument of his mothers will, but that grin. So maniacal.

The moral of the story... if you rent a European studio apartment from a scary woman with a devilish looking dwarf son, ask why the room is so cheap. If they respond, because of the white slavery... then maybe say 'no thanks.'
