Duma review

Posted : 16 years, 9 months ago on 8 July 2007 06:43

Duma reminded me of one of my favorite books โ€œRules of the Bone โ€˜. It is a movie about friendship between a boy living in South Africa and a cheetah named Duma. At first the story line may seem a bit simple, but then you will notice all the serous issues Duma deals with. The role of the young Xan is played by Alexander Michaeletos โ€“ he has really cute English accent which made me seek some more information about him. I found out that he is leaving in a farm in South Africa like the character he plays so well in the movie โ€“ real you can almost sense his feelings and fears. Duma is also a fine example of a coming out of age movie โ€“ I would like to quote some of the dialogue:

" Change, yeah. Thatโ€™s what happens. All the time.

The little boy that left homeโ€ฆโ€ฆis not the little boy that is with me now, eh?

See? Change.
"

Duma is a movie you would enjoy watching with your younger friends and relatives โ€“ they will like it and learn many things from it.

The cinematography is brilliants โ€“you will enjoy the beautiful nature scenes or the animal scenes โ€“ I almost felt like I was watching a documentary about animals at times โ€“ so believable were those scenes.
