Refn has created such a unique atmosphere and aesthetic from the retro-wave soundtrack, LA noir themes, and Italian horror-like violence (practical effects, yay!). The sudden spikes of violence lose their impact upon repeated viewings, but the rest of the film is absolutely electrifying."
