A good movie

Posted : 12 years, 2 months ago on 3 March 2012 08:33

Even though I keep watching his movies (I have seen already 22 of them), I usually have a hard time with Steve Martin. Lately, I have watched many of his movies and I must admit I don't really enjoy his work, even the most highly regarded movies such as 'The Jerk' or 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles'. However, this flick is one of the few exceptions. Indeed, it is not amongst his most famous flicks but I really enjoyed it. Of course, the fact that this time, he has Michael Caine with him, was a tremendous asset. This guy is one of the greatest actors out there and he is in my opinion terribly underrated. He gave here one of his great performances and I thought he was just hilarious. Steve Martin was also pretty good and together, they made a really funny odd couple. To be honest, the story was a rather standard heist comedy but it was entertaining enough and there was plenty of room for both actors to really shine. To conclude, even though it is rather forgotten, in my opinion, it is one of the best movies starring Steve Martin and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in his work.

DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS

Hilarious movie, one of my all-time favorites. Great setting, fantastic cast, and impeccable timing of puns. Michael Caine's a schemer, Steve Martin a scalawag, but there's a scoundrel there somewhere...
