Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Chloe Grace Moretz, I thought I might as well give it a try. On top of that, even though I heard about the book it was adapted from, I wasn't familiar with it at all. Still, eventually, I have to admit it, I was actually positively surprised by the whole thing and I thought that it was quite enjoyable. I mean, right from the first scene, I was pretty much sold. Indeed, most of the movies in this genre are usually terribly far-fetched but the trick of getting up way too early to go to school was genuinely funny and, above all, completely relatable. To be honest, after this great scene, the rest of the movie was actually rather hit-and-miss but most of did work pretty good. I did like the fact that the main character thinks that he is awesome and that he believes that everyone should worship him when, in fact, the guy was pretty much a douche-bag. Anyway, to conclude, even though it was still missing to become really great, it was a nice surprise and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

The writers of the movie got the title wrong! Should have been called 'Movie of a Wimpy Kid' and this screenplay is rather wimpy itself!

I haven't seen the second 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' movie but come on! 'Dog Days' is about as lame as this! None of these movies have been well received and I can see why! Boring and not funny and a waste of talent!

The best example that for to make laugh doesn’t need of a big idea or of a preposterous story, the movie brings the old cliché of the hellish life of the boy sought popularity at the beginning of student life. And even like that brings new jokes, makes us roll with laughter and leaves us entertained throughout history. Very good, it worths checking out, not a movie that will stay in your memory forever, but fun is guaranteed without generic, without forcing, without copying, just good old comedy.

Love it. It borrows the formulas of other stories - you know, a kid wants to be popular in the school, he has a nasty older brother, he thinks his best friend is not cool enough and he wants new cool friends.. but this is one of the few movies that make the formula works.
