An average movie

Posted : 7 years, 8 months ago on 22 August 2016 01:43

When I was a kid, I was a huge fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme and I saw all the movies he made at the beginning of his career. Eventually, at around 14 years old, I started to get interested in other kind of movies and I discovered that his movies were not so great after all. Anyway, from all these movies, back then, I was mostly fascinated by this movie, at least, until I saw the damned thing. Indeed, to have a cool martial-artists like Van Damme playing in some post-apocalyptic world seemed pretty neat for 12 year old boy like me. Of course, I didn’t know that this movie was made following the cancellations of 2 projects, a sequel to ‘Masters of the Universe’ and a ‘Spider-Man’ film, as the studio already spent 2 millions on this project, they came up with this project to ‘recycle’ their costumes and sets and to compensate their losses. Of course, in such circumstances, there was no way that the whole thing could have really worked but, since I have just a kid, I thought it was almost entertaining. Anyway, to conclude, I think I’m being really generous with my rating here, the whole thing was pretty lame and I don’t think it is worth a look.

Cyborg review

Posted : 7 years, 10 months ago on 7 June 2016 02:39

Some details to the review I gonna make!
As Gibson slits an enemy's throat with a knife in his cowboy boot, blood spurt splashes on the floor.
Fender cutting Strat's throat at the end (offscreen). Then he cleans the bloody knife by wiping it against a pirate's arm and make a comment:"You, my friend, are screwed. Now I claim your soul, asshole. For Satan." Fender shows them the severed head of Strat.

Gibson is nearby and kills most of the pirates. He breaks a pirate's neck with a boot kick. A loud crack can be heard. Gibson kills an opponent with the machete ,the machete exits the opponent's back. As he stabs his opponent, blood splashes around and the enemy falls to the ground.
After a few fights against Fender's troops, Gibson finally faces Fender. Gibson's walk towards Fender and, before he stands before him, he cuts an opponent's throat. The knife can be seen at the throat. Another enemy struggling on the floor while having the knife stuck in his gut. And another guy who jumps over Gibson gets his neck broken because Gibson kicks him while he's in the air, that lethal cowboy boot severing his spine for good

Cyborg review

You really have to appreciate Cyborg for the fact that it knows exactly what it is and never attempts to be more than that. It is very comfortable in its own B-movie skin which gives it a certain level of charm. This is a Canon film through and through, complete with awkward line delivery, gratuitous violence and nudity, and action scenes that spit in the face of logic. It ranks among Van Damme's best alongside Bloodsport and Hard Target. Here he's dirtied up, rocking a blowout, and mumbling his way through the English language. Van Damme plays Gibson, a Slinger which is sort of like a bodyguard-for-hire who is recruited by a cyborg to get her to Atlanta where they can develop the cure for the plague. She is being pursued by a rag tag group of Pirates lead by the fearsome Fender, who talks like a surfer Andre the Giant and likes to intimidate people with his florescent blue eyes. I haven't seen eyes this menacing since The Eyes Of Laura Mars. The whole movie is basically a long cat and mouse chase from New York to Atlanta in about the same time it took The Warriors to get from the Bronx to Coney Island. Van Damme doing what he does best here, playing the troubled loner and demonstrating both his body and his martial arts skills with gusto. You gotta love that showdown at the end between Gibs and Fender, there's more yelling than fighting! Yeeeeaaaaah! Aaaaaaaaah! It's silly, it's wacky, it's Canon. I LIKE THIS WOOOORRRLLD!!!

was very low release when it came out yet I feel one of the best Van Damme films. Vincent Klyn is awesome as a Cyborg.
