A beautiful movie

Posted : 13 years, 4 months ago on 9 January 2011 09:59

I already saw this movie but since it was such a long time ago, I was really eager to check it out again. By now, I have seen all the movies directed by Wong Kar-Wai and, eventually, even though I have a great admiration for his work, I came to the conclusion that I’m actually not really a huge fan. This movie is however the exception. Indeed, it was the very first movie I saw from this director, it definitely had a really strong impact on me and it is still by far my favorite. As usual with this director, it was a really gorgeous movie with a great sountrack and not one but two very mesmerizing love-stories. The 2nd tale was slightly better and, Tony Leung, who still is after all these years my favorite Asian actor, was as usual really strong in this movie. Eventually, this director was always more interested in the mood than telling an actual story and the whole thing was just quite fascinating to behold. Anyway, to conclude, after all these years, I still love this movie, it is one of my favorite romantic movies and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Wong Kar-Wai's work.

Chungking Express review

Posted : 13 years, 4 months ago on 5 January 2011 08:49

Simply amazing! I loved every minute of this film. The whole storyline seemed familar, though, at times. I feel that is because Hollywood has used this type of film structure in many films that I have seen.

I enjoyed the storyline, two lonely cops both connected by a Honk Kong snack bar- just brilliant. Although I have to say the second part of the film was a lot better than the first and was the heart of the film for me.

Once again the cinematography was amazing and I've noticed re-accuring themes such as; love and connections in Wong's films. I'm certainly going to watch more of his films, as I've loved all that i've watched so far.

I wish we saw more original films in Hollywood today and why can't they all be as beautiful like this?

Some brilliant performances from Tony leung and faye Wong, which for me made the film what it is. Again, I'll be watching more og Leung's films as he is becoming one of my favourite actors.

Really, everybody should watch this film. I can't recomend this enough!

El cine como frustración

Posted : 14 years, 5 months ago on 5 December 2009 12:06
