An average movie

Posted : 11 months, 2 weeks ago on 17 June 2023 04:38

I already saw this movie but since it was ages ago and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out again. In fact, a week ago, I already rewatched 'Les bronzés' and I was quite impressed by how much better it was than I remembered so I was definitely less apprehensive to watch again this sequel. And, indeed, in spite the fact that I really despised the damned thing when I first watched it as a teenager, I have to admit that it was actually quite entertaining after all. Obviously, it was a no-brainer that, for this sequel, this group of friends would go to winter sport holidays. The fact that I'm not a huge fan of such holidays probably made me appreciate it even more (sure, the mountains are gorgeous and skiing is fun but it's also so much hassle and so damned expensive, I honestly rather stay at home). Once again, I was also impressed by the fact that so many jokes were actually really funny. The only thing that really didn't work for me was the idea of putting dental floss in some cheese fondue (seriously, some people really do that and think it's funny?!?) and the ski excursion going bad lasted for way too long (it was actually supposed to last even longer and this sequence was thankfully drastically shortened). Still, in general, it might agree with the general assessment that this sequel was actually better than its predecessor. Indeed, it was more focused. Anyway, it was quite entertaining to spend more time with this group of really average French people. What was also fun, this time around, was the fact that even though they had all become friends, in fact, they didn't really appreciate each other that much which is just exactly how it goes in real life. Anyway, to conclude, even if I still don't think it is a real masterpiece, I have to admit that it is actually a solid French comedy and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
