A goofy movie

Posted : 13 years, 5 months ago on 28 November 2010 08:33

Before this movie came out, there was some positive buzz about the damned thing but when it was eventually released, the reactions were rather mixed after all. Since it was directed by Michel Gondry, I still wanted to check it out and make my own opinion. Eventually, I'm not really sure what I should think about this flick. Indeed, it must be the goofiest movie I have ever seen as the concept was very nice and intriguing but, honestly, there was nothing much else going for this movie, except for this nice concept. Indeed, in my opinion, the characters were not very well developed and, honestly, while watching this flick, I never really cared for them and what they were going through. Still, it was pretty awesome to ย see their remakes which were seriously pretty neat. Another thing that didn't work, in my opinion, is that they tried to make us believe that such 'remakes' would be popular and that some people would pay some money to watch those. Still, in spite of these flaws, I enjoyed this movie because it was goofy, original and harmless and I think it is definitely worth a look, especially if you enjoyed Michel Gondry's previous flicks.

Una historia original con un relato impecable. Divertida y sencilla, como un cuento bien contado.
Jack Black funciona bien aunque sus interpretaciones empiezan a volverse demasiado similares entre sรญ y por lo tanto a cansar a quienes lo ven.

Clever, But Not Pulled Off Well.

"Be Kind Rewind" is a decent comedy with a clever story and idea. I had never seen a film like it before.
Two friends, Jerry and Mike (Jack Black And Mos Def) own a video store called "Be Kind Rewind" They have almost no business, no customers, and only a few VHS's in stock. Things get a little worse when Jerry gets magnetized by a power plant while trying to sabotage it. Don't ask me why he was doing it, because I have no idea. When Jerry enters the video store after wards, he erases all of the content on the tapes. When customers come in asking for films that they don't have, they decide why not create that film, considering they had never seen it before, and wouldn't notice they were in the film. They create many films including Ghostbusters, Rush Hour 2, Men In Black, and many more. The customers love it, and Jerry and Mike finally have business. Well, that is a good thing until they are charged of piracy and all of that hard work is for nothing. To solve the problem, the whole community gets together and makes their own film.
Like I said earlier, a great idea, but not pulled off well. The film started odd, and just didn't have any flow to it.
I would recommend watching it because of the entertainment though.
