This cartoon was made in anticipation of the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. The Olympic Games were boycotted by the USA, which staged an anti-Soviet campaign due to the 1979 Afghanistan invasion, and perhaps it's these developments that inspired the authors (directed by Vladimir Pekar) to make this hilarious story of Baba Yaga and her magical friends scheming against Misha--symbol of the Olympic Games.
