An average movie

Posted : 13 years, 1 month ago on 15 March 2011 10:30

By now, I have seen many movies with Steve Martin, more than 25 as a matter of fact and, honestly, I usually can see their appeal but I never really enjoy them and this movie is not an expection. I mean, contrary to his most recent movies which have been usually received with very some weak reviews, this one seemed to be pretty good and the great Roger Ebert even described it as one great screwball comedy. Well, this time, I really didn’t share Roger’s enthusiasm. Indeed, in my opinion, the premise was in fact rather lame (the soul of woman is transferred to a man’s body but the soul of this man remains in his body as well), it sounded stupid, it was rather stupid and I really had a hard time to care about the whole thing. Of course, you could argue that I shouldn’t take this story too seriously but, at least, it should have been entertaining but, in my opinion, the jokes were not really funny at all. I don’t know, maybe it’s me, maybe I’m just too rational for this kind of humor. To conclude, even though it wasn’t really awful, I didn’t like it much and I don’t think it is really worth a look, except if you are a die-hard Steve Martin fan.
