A Perfect Getaway review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:35

Good suspense is the one where everything is shown to the viewer and only in the end he will understand how all these pieces fit together. Already fake suspense like this, cheat, and omits important scenes dialogues plant inaccurate and false. So much so that in its outcome, the director David Twohy had to do just a short cut to explain where the killers came from, and only then, showed cut scenes to circumvent the reasoning of the public. Itโ€™s called incompetence of foul play or screenplay. Itโ€™s a shame because the production is very well crafted, there is sure to achieve success in the surge, and the end can be considered as the propaganda film, electrifying. Still, the script slips again with a strange outcome where certain character totally changes his mind for no apparent reason, or rather convincing. A Perfect Getaway meets all the technical issues that may have the best productions - including some of the most beautiful landscapes - but fails miserably to develop a coherent story and sincere to its audience.

An average movie

Posted : 12 years, 9 months ago on 25 July 2011 08:39

I wasnโ€™t really sure what to expect from this movie but since there was a decent cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventually, it turned out to be a decent thriller and I actually really liked the material, even if actually half of the movie didnโ€™t really work. As a result, some scenes were pretty good but some others were rather awkward with some ridiculous dialogues. Furthermore, I don't think that Milla Jovovich and Steve Zahn made such a believable couple and, in my opinion, they should have either dropped him or her. Than, there was also this very predictable twist which really annoyed me and, after that, I was really wondering if the whole thing actually made any sense. The interesting thing was that, completely against my expectations, the movie actually got some momentum after this twist and the damned thing became actually quite entertaining. To conclude, even though half of it was pretty much some rather preposterous garbage, I still think it was actually a rather well made and entertaining thriller and if you don't pay too much attention to the story, you may end up having a good time, especially if you like the genre.ย

Good Movie

Posted : 14 years, 2 months ago on 16 February 2010 01:34

I rented this movie for my girlfriend & I to watch on Valentines Day. We were both wanting to see this movie when it first came out but it definately wasnt one to take her daughter to. So I rented it last weekend. The in all is a really good movie. Definately hd you guessing till the the end who the killers are. A little confusing as far as the story telling.

SPOILER ALERT DONT READ ANY FURTHER

The confusing part for me was if the 2 main characters were the killers then why through the entire movie with the scenes just between them they acted like they were afraid of the other couple as if they were the killers. To go even as far as having a scene in the tent by themselves thinking of excuses on how theyre going to get away from the other couple. I just feel they could of handled the screen play a lil better in that aspect. I mean watch Scream now thats how you do a script and get totally blnd sided by who the killers were.

A Perfect Getaway From Your Typical Flick

Posted : 14 years, 8 months ago on 15 August 2009 05:32

What you don't see often these days is originality. With all the summer blockbusters being released worldwide, A Perfect Getaway is just what the doctor ordered. It has plenty of originality along with a very unique story.

I had pretty high expectations for this film and was really excited after seeing the previews over and over again on television. Yes, there are plenty of movies that came before this to put up some competition, but those lack something of much importance. Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe are just a couple to note. While those might be fun and blasting with crazy special effects, they are just same old same old in terms of filmmaking. I am not saying I can't enjoy a film like that, but repetitiveness is rather annoying after some time.

A Perfect Getaway strives in the categories of creativity, uniqueness, and originality, but also puts you on the edge with the suspense it packs. Not only was I entertained the whole way through, but was also excited to see what would be next, unlike a lot of other movies out there, where your pretty sure what's going to happen, and just kind of want it to be over.

I haven't mentioned how good the cast was, with a rather unusual role for Steve Zahn to play. I haven't seen him this gritty before. He's a successful Screenplay writer, and he was great. Mila Jovovich was great as his wife and really shined here. Olyphant had a nice role as well, playing the ex special forces nature guide (not really but it sounds good) He had a partner as well, and was played by Sanchez. He was probably the pivotal part of the movies interest level for me because he really kept the movie going, and was just a pure bad-ass.

While this flick may not be for all movie-goers, it's still highly entertaining, with a cool twist, and some memorable moments. One of the best of this year.

7.4/10
