Flight 7500 review

Posted : 9 years, 7 months ago on 9 October 2014 05:57

I have been wanting to see this for awhile now, but I've hesitated because I'm not sure if I have the whole movie. Some sources say it's about 80 minutes while others say 95 minutes. So is the version for America cut or something I don't know. I decided to check it out anyways. I'm not a big fan of The Grudge movies but, the cast is great which is promising. I almost didn't recognize Scout Taylor-Compton when she showed up. She is probably the most interesting looking character as the rest are all just ordinary looking people. For the most part it's pretty creepy. The acting was pretty good and the characters were interesting enough. The problem was the execution was kind of bland since nothing really happens for most of the movie. It was rather disappointing after waiting such a long time to finally see this. The ending was the redeeming factor for this. It had a nice twist which was good, but it was rather depressing. It's definitely a more psychological kind of horror than most that comes out these days. Then they had to add in the very last scene which pretty much killed it again. This could have been so much better, but it just fell short in the end. It wasn't too bad though.

Fun all the way through

No reviews? Let's give it a try. Ignoring the first, unneeded scene (the flash-forward), it starts off fairly well. There's the just married couple, then four friends (two couples one of which is no longer that), a (personally) cute goth-like girl (not so much, but close enough), a misterious stranger.. etc. From the very first moment the movie tries to establish that characters aren't one dimensional - with one of the stewardesses talking about her fiancee, the two couples aforementioned how they've been planning to go on this trip for so long, and so on.

However, beyond those few minutes.. it fails at expanding the characters any more, at least properly. You/we learn about two more things about two couples that aren't exactly a 'couple', and that's it. Yet, I didn't mind it. Sure, the movie could have benefited from more expended characters, but the story was more in the 'now', and the peril those characters find themselves in. As if you're watching it all happening right now, right this moment, and right in front of you.

The story itself isn't great, and it's different than I expected, but I liked it. There's not much scary stuff in here, and I'd put it under mystery/thriller.

All in all, the movie itself isn't great, but I thought it was enjoyable. If you like movies in airplanes, and you wouldn't just watch it to pick every little thing apart instead of just relaxing, and enjoying the ride, then go for it. Otherwise, you probably won't like.
