A gargantuan historical war drama of the Boxer rebellion, 55 Days at Peking is a lavish costume extravaganza with big battle scenes and also, political drama on the side, and while it has everything, it is quite a forgotten epic. Even with Charlton Heston, David Niven and a little aged Ava Gardner topping the bill, it has few memorable scenes.   "
