2012 review

Unbelievable, the number of times "the hero" manages to get out of it ... Only the explosion of the super-volcano in Yellowstone should have killed them dead with its shock wave. So the rest is pure nonsense.

Ponderous, predictable, and loaded with tons of useless special effects. I actually fell asleep the first time I watched it!

Crappy dialogue and a preposterous plot, but the devastation and earthquake scenes were spectacular.

People think this movie is about 2012, but really it's about the first ever Jedi Knight. Jackson Curtis, played by John Cusack, uses the force to avoid countless destructive happenings that was caused by a lazer blast from the Death Star. The government says it's massive solar flares but to the acute observer you can see the Death Star hidden in the backgroud. I like the idea of showing how the Jedi Order was started but the movie sucked. Bad acting, mental dialogue, and useless scenes.

I love films, and I have a small amount of knowledge about how films are made, but enough to critically appreciate a great film. So, I saw this film with some friends in a cinema, and if I met the person who directed this, I would be tempted to punch them in the face. I remember being in actual physical pain watching this fucking film, I hated it that much, each piss-poor cliche after cliche just stabbed into my brain like a knife, I fuicking hated this film with a passion. It's not even funny how bad it was, it made me angry I was forced to watch this shit because I was stuck in the cinema with my friends and couldn't just walk out, it was that bad. Of course, I felt the same way about the last transformers movie, so if you liked that, you'll love this

An average movie

Wow!! Already 21 reviews for this movie! At least, you have to admit that it has somehow inspired the listal users. Anyway, I actually saw it in the movie theater when it was released and both my two older kids really wanted to see it so it seems that there was really something appealing about this flick. First of all, why did they release this movie in 2009 and not in 2012? In fact, the best would have been to release it at the end of 2011 but whatever... Anyway, eventually, I thought it was not bad after all. Of course, the whole thing was completely preposterous but that's something inherent to the genre of disaster movies. With this genre, it is all about the mayhem and destruction and, this time, it was definitely spectacular and well done. Sure, they really went over the top (you have here a real natural disasters grand slam : earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanos, fireballs....) so it is so much that, at some point, you stop really to care about what's going on the screen (as if you really cared to start with) . In this genre and from the same director, I really preferred 'The Day After Tomorrow' but still, even though, it is far from being my favorite disaster movie, it's still rather entertaining and I think it is actually worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

What a huge disappointment and what a huge waste of time. Roland Emmerich needs to lay off the disaster films, though there were a few things I liked. I thought the science behind this was interesting and the special effects were wonderful! Unfortunately everything else wasn't nearly as wonderful as the special effects. There were way to many unrealistic scenes, the acting was ok, the dialogue was crap, and the movie was way too long. If I were you I would spare yourself the torture and do something productive, this is as entertaining as watching grass grow.

It looks great but gets pretty irritating. Woody Harrelson's eccentric character saves it from being a disaster =P
