Mitchell Yee is a Writer/Director based in Southern California. At an early age, Mitchell was a confident writer. He would write short stories and finished a novel at the age of 12. Influenced by his sister, Allison, he decided to make film a profession. Truly passionate about visual story telling during his adolescence, he created films that would bring his friends and family together. Mitchell Yee is a Writer/Director based in Southern California. At an early age, Mitchell was a confident writer. He would write short stories and finished a novel at the age of 12. Influenced by his sister, Allison, he decided to make film a profession. Truly passionate about visual story telling during his adolescence, he created films that would bring his friends and family together. Growing up in a meager situation, he made the most out of his story telling.
In high school, he would create comedic films, capturing the attention of Jim Lindsay, a Discovery Channel director. Mitchell would continue his work while maintaining a 4.5 grade point average. He held numerous jobs since he was 13, working as a bus boy at Round Table Pizza to Cashier at McDonald's.
After his high school graduation, Mitchell went on to Citrus College and learned Stage Craft, working with the Haugh Performance Art Theatre. It was here he met his filming partner, Yury Chia. The duo was inseparable on and off the camera. In the spring of 2009, Yury passed away, causing Mitchell severe depression, weight gain, and Trigeminal Nueralgia. They shared a dream of going to Art Center College of Design, to study film together and then eventually work for Pixar/Walt Disney Studios.
Ultimately, Mitchell defeated Trigeminal Neuralgia, once diagnosed as permanent. Mitchell continued their dream by enrolling in Art Center College of Design. It was here, Mitchell would continue his story telling by working for Disney Imagineering. He graduated in 2013.
Since then, Mitchell has worked on films such as Dark Knight Rises, Iron Man 3, and working with many influences including Christopher Nolan, Rich Moore, and Samuel Goldwyn.While maintaining his presence in film, he makes fitness a priority in which he has lost 125lbs. His writing has been featured in Mensfitness.com and various websites. "The Fisherman" his personal film has won multiple awards and is featured at the Asian Pacific Film Festival in 2013. His influences include Muhammad Ali, Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, and John Lassiter. He is currently working on his first animated short "ACLO" and his personal short film "The Emperor".
