Anderson attended the University of California. Briefly at United Artists in 1932, he became an important costumer at Warner Brothers (1933 to 1952), doing some of his best work on Technicolor films in the late 1930's. He later taught at the Sacramento Art Centre.
Because of the loud, clanking noise made by the wearing of chain mail, Milo Anderson had to devise a realistic-looking (and quieter) substitute for his protagonists in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), in this case woven string sprayed with metal paint.
