In 2000 Mike Backflipped a helicopter with the blades spinning on MTV’s Senseless acts of video. His riding is so well respected that Ride Magazine voted him one of the most influential riders of the ‘90’s.
Mike’s podium run began as he won first place in the 1996 ESPN X Trail Street Contest. He continued on and has consistently done well at contests including placing first in the ’98 Hard Trick Contest at the Goodwill Games. But Rooftop’s accomplishments reach much farther than just BMX competitions. In 2005 Mike broke and set 2 world records at X games 11 for the longest backflip and longest 360 on a bmx bike. Over the last few years Mike has branched out and explored some other interest. Depending on the time of the year you could find Mike jumping out of planes, shredding the slopes, diving with sharks, on fire, or on some other wild adventure.
In 1995 he helped start the BMX program with Etnies shoes. Which quickly grew to becoming the leading shoe company in the business. In 2005 Mike resurrected Redline bicycles freestyle program, Mike and the Team he hand picked did in 9 month what Redline hadn’t been able to do in 2 decades,make Redline cool again. In 2008 Skateboarder Tony Hawk asked Mike to come work for him as a Consultant for his new Venture “Huck Jam Bikes”, a mass market bmx bike company, It quickly became a huge success with already over a million bikes sold. He also recently navigated the globe in 7 days on the Gumball Rally with good friends Tony Hawk, Mike Vallely, Ryan Dunn, and Bam Margera. Rooftop has represented BMX riders on tours alongside top musicians and skateboarders by being a part of the 2002 Sprite Tour with Jay-Z and N.E.R.D. as well as Tony Hawk’s Gigantic Skatepark Tour 2000-2006. Mike has become one of the leading personalities in the action sports industry.
In 2002, Mike made his feature film debut alongside Vin Diesel in “XXX, in 2006 Mike also helped design and execute the opening stunt sequence in the movie “Stick It” which he was nominated for a “Taurus Award” for “hardest hit” in a feature film. Over the years you have seen Mike in numerous commercials and tv shows. In January of 2009 Mike will Co-star along side Kevin james in the Upcoming Comedy “Paul Blart Mallcop.” You also can catch Mike as a regular on TLC’s hit show “La Ink” featuring Kat Von D.
