Maya McClean was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She is known for her work on Moulin Rouge! (2001), Son of the Mask (2005) and Hair (2015). She worked on board the Sovereign of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, as a dancer in 2003. Maya selected for Australian Idol 2 after auditioning, despite her twin sister Nandy McClean also auditioning, but not making it through. Despite making it into the top 30, she decided to pull out of Australian Idol 2, choosing instead to pursue her career together with her twin sister.
