Maurice Tillet was a professional wrestler known as The French Angel, who was a fan favorite back in the early 1940s. Born in France, Tillet could allegedly speak 14 languages, was a poet, and had early aspirations of being an actor. In his twenties, he developed acromegaly, a rare disease that causes bones to grow out of control. Tillet moved to the U.S. where he capitalized on his extreme appearance by becoming a professional wrestler.
