Mary Mounib was born in Beirut on February 11, 1905. She them moved to Cairo with her family. Her family was very poor and she had a miserable upbringing. She married her sister's husband after her sister died to rise up her sister’s children.
Her career in show business started as a dancer in a nightclub, and then she got a contract with a theater group as an actress. She later traveled to Alexandria where she worked in another theater group.
