Ms. Helgenberger is Best known for her TV role as Catherine Willows a crime scene investigator on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2000-2015). Ms. Helgenberger shared in CSI's 2005 Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Ms. Helgenberger has recently reprised her role as Catherine Willows on the new CBS drama CSI: Vegas (2022-).

One of Ms. Helgenberger other more recent rolls was on the CBS legal drama "All Rise", in which She played Judge Lisa Boner who broke the glass ceiling by becoming one of the rare female judges in California. Originally a progressive voice from the bench, over time She had become an entrenched member of the judicial establishment. As Supervising Judge, she is a powerful and influential figure who oversees "Lola’s" (The Main Character) transition to Judge, and through that relationship, she may rediscover her passion for justice. Ms. Helgenberger's greatest claim to fame on the silver screen may well be when She played Donna Jensen a chemical exposure victim opposite Julia Roberts in the movie Erin Brockovich (2000).

The other feature films, Ms. Helgenberger has appeared in are Tootsie (1982), Steven Spielberg's Always (1989), The Cowboy Way (1994), Bad Boys (1995), Species (1995), My Fellow Americans (1996), Fire Down Below (1997), Species 2 (1998), In Good Company (2004) and Mr. Brooks (2007)

Throughout the 1990s Ms. Helgenberger took on numerous roles in made-for-TV movies and as a guest star on many TV series. In particular Ms. Helgenberger appeared in many movies made specifically for the Lifetime cable network and also for Showtime. Ms. Helgenberger won critical acclaim for "In Sickness and in Health" (1992) (TV Movie), "Thanks of a Grateful Nation" (1998) (TV Movie) and "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town: JonBenét" and "The City of Boulder" (2000) (TV Movie).

Ms. Helgenberger earned a degree in drama at Northwestern University. A talent scout recruited Ms. Helgenberger from there to work on the soap opera "Ryan's Hope" where She appeared over the course of the next four years (1982-1985).

Ms. Helgenberger won an Emmy for Her portrayal of a hard-boiled Prostitute who catered to Vietnam War soldiers, in the series "China Beach" (1988-1991). Ms. Helgenberger also played Karen Hines who was George Clooney's love interest in a multi-episode arc of the monumentally successful TV series "ER" (1994)
