Manitas De Plata was born on August 7, 1921 in Cette [now Sète], Hérault, France as Ricardo Baliardo. He was an actor, known for Jo, ¡qué noche! (1985), Euroshow 1981 (1981) and ¡Mi Gente! My People! (1999). He died on November 5, 2014 in Montpellier, France.
He recorded his first album in 1963, and went on a world tour after a successful concert at New York's Carnegie Hall.
He was a renowned French flamenco guitarist. Early in his career, he frequented cafés on the French Riviera, and associated with celebrities including Brigitte Bardot, Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali.
