Mako was born on April 4, 2001, in Fukuoka, Japan. During her second year of junior high, she saw a Japanese trainee get in 2nd place in a JYP Open Audition. This event motivated her to get third place in her next audition. Training hard for a year she got in third place, out of 3,500 contestants.
