De Steenwinkel first came to prominence after winning season six of The Voice of Holland. She has subsequently taken part in the Dutch television series De beste zangers van Nederland and Dance Dance Dance. De Steenwinkel was born in Bergen, North Holland. Her father is a wealthy television director while her mother is a teacher. She attended Murmellius Gymnasium in Alkmaar.
